Our Board

Hardie Grant is an independent business with a board made up of the founders and founding investors, Associated Media Investments (AMI).

CHAIR

Bruce J Watson

Bruce was originally a lawyer at what is now King+Wood Mallesons before joining Macquarie Bank in 1982. He has had a long career in investment banking at Macquarie, as a founding Director of investment bank Grant Samuel and at Westpac where he was Head of Corporate Advisory and Equities. Bruce has a BCom, LLB from UNSW and an MA in History from the University of Sydney.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE & DIRECTOR

Sandy Grant

Co-founder of Hardie Grant, Sandy has a distinguished career in book publishing and media. He was formerly MD of Heinemann, Octopus and Reed Australia, and CEO of Reed Books UK. In addition to his key strategic role guiding Hardie Grant, Sandy has always been actively involved in the industry, including as a former director of Meanjin, the Australian Republican Movement, Chair of the Melbourne Writers Festival, member of the UNESCO City of Literature Bid Committee, President of the Australian Publishers Association, and Chair of the Copyright Agency. 

CHAIR, HARDIE GRANT MEDIA & DIRECTOR

Fiona Hardie

Co-founder of Hardie Grant, Fiona has had a wide career in book and magazine publishing in Australia and the UK, including roles at Penguin, Text and Cedar. In addition to her role at Hardie Grant Media, Fiona is also Vice President of the AIER (Australian Institute of Employment Rights) and oversees culture and workplace rights across the Hardie Grant business.

DIRECTOR

Richard Gerahty

Richard is a Director of both AMI and AMI shareholder, Liangrove Media. Richard’s background is in corporate finance, an area in which he has worked broadly for over 25 years. Richard initially worked in the mining industry, then in investment banking and corporate advisory where he worked for Centaurus Corporate Finance and Merrill Lynch and a boutique advisory firm, Cygnus Corporate Advisory. Over the last 7 years Richard has assisted Liangrove Group, a family investment group, with some of its investments, including Hardie Grant.

DIRECTOR

Rob Gamble

Rob is a shareholder and director of AMI. An executive in Australian media for over 30 years, Rob is currently Chief Executive of Go Transit Media Group, Australia’s largest transit media operator, and a director of advertising agency, Queensland Advertising. Rob’s previous positions include Chief Executive of DMG Regional Radio Group and Group Sales Manager for Nine Network Australia.
