Studio Manager - SHERPA, Melbourne

An exciting opportunity exists for a driven and organised Studio Manager to join Sherpa, the creative production studio of global marketing network Hardie Grant Media. Hardie Grant Media’s agencies include content agency Heads & Tales, PR agency tide.pr and digital marketing agency Reload Media, and the studio manager will be responsible for ensuring the network’s clients have access to world-class creative services including video production, social content creation, graphic design, animation, digital design and photography.

The studio manager is a new role created to reimagine the way Hardie Grant Media agencies engage with production, so experience leading, collaborating and problem-solving are all essential. You will be establishing new processes, deciding on technology and workflow software, defining rates and products, and managing a team.

As Hardie Grant Media has teams in Manila and London you will be thinking about this from a global perspective, developing a scalable production division that leverages and builds on our strong local freelance network and offshore capabilities. You should have a strong understanding of marketing communications, digital content, social media and creative assets. You won’t be required to produce this work, but you will need to know it innately to be able to properly manage talent, partners and agency client teams to deliver impactful and creative work.

The role reports to Hardie Grant Media’s strategy and innovation director, ensuring the production capabilities being developed are world-class, client focused, and setup for our agencies to benefit from. The role will not be responsible for managing a P&L or new business, as it will be servicing the 120 staff and 200+ clients Hardie Grant Media already has.

Key skills and experience:

  • Video production experience
  • Social media content creation/production experience
  • Social media expertise and knowledge
  • An interest in digital content, creators, new media
  • An eye for graphic design (overseeing not producing)
  • Studio or team management experience is essential
  • Experience working with remote teams is beneficial
  • Video editing and content design skills are a plus

  • Building and maintaining a strong network of freelancers across a range of skills
  • Managing an offshore production team
