Born on an American air force base in Germany in 1972, Sterling Ruby is a Los Angeles based artist whose work appears in such public collections as Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and Tate Modern, London. His work has been featured in exhibitions worldwide, and art critics have come to know him as the poster boy for posthumanism; however, as Eugene Wang articulately explains in his essay for this new volume, Ruby is so much more.
