A self-taught artist, Malcah Zeldis is a first-generation American whose family emigrated from Russia. She draws on memories to create richly detailed paintings illustrating the union of the spiritual and domestic that characterizes Judaism. In addition to its thirteen images (grids for the last four months are grouped on one page), this calendar includes Jewish holidays, days of the Jewish year, weekly Torah readings, a list of candlelighting times for selected cities, and notes on the traditions portrayed.
