William Seltzer Rice (1873–1963) created humble yet stunning images that were in harmony with the aesthetics of the Craftsman style. A masterful watercolorist, distinguished teacher, and avid outdoorsman, Rice found enduring inspiration in nature. He believed in making original artwork available to a wide audience at modest cost and, being a skilled craftsman as well as an artist, Rice designed, carved, and printed all of his blocks himself. This calendar contains twelve block prints that reflect Rice’s love of the outdoors and his observations as a naturalist.
