Born in Nyack, New York, Edward Hopper (1882–1967) studied under Robert Henri at the New York School of Art. Hopper built his paintings around light, saying, “I like long shadows and early and late sunlight. I am very much interested in light, and particularly sunlight, trying to paint sunlight without eliminating the form under it, if I can.” He traveled throughout the United States for more than forty years, recording everyday views of people and their surroundings. This calendar includes twelve of Hopper’s paintings, featuring both rural and urban scenes.
